Gets easier after the first ten 😏
If you can go downstairs without having to turn round and go down backwards, you're doing fine!

Evening all. Mileage is still way down on where I’d like it to be but at least I went for a run this evening.

On the subject of post-marathon rest, I don’t think you should worry about hard and fast rules. If you don’t feel like running, don’t. When you feel like a gentle run, give it a go but take it easy. There are plenty of other low/non-impact things to do if you want to get yourself moving. Otherwise enjoy the rest, you’ve earned it.

Maintaining a run streak in the first couple of days after a marathon is tricky. But saying that, after Regensburg Marathon in May, I ran a new 5k pb only 4 days later.

I'd say for me, it takes at least 3 days before the legs feel normal, i.e I don't start each run with a wonky hoble, but I can normally still feel the fatigue for a few days more than that.

I PB’d at parkrun the week after my first marathon (with no running in the days between). But I wasn’t that sore, and had no issues with feet or toenails.

I've never tried to run anything even vaguely race-like quite that soon after a marathon.
But I have run disappointing marathons followed by very exciting shorter races (such as taking a full minute off my 10k time 3 weeks after running my second slowest road marathon ever), - the "marathon bounce" can really pay off in the month or so after the event.
