Probably too late but hoover before you spray the indorex. Right into the corners. It opens up the pile of the carpet and the little fuckers have nowhere to hide. Frontline plus on the dogs. It has a chemical that stops the eggs hatching in your house too. Even if you try to avoid the more noxious chemicals generally it is worth cracking them out when you've actually got an infestation on the go.

thank you mr and mrs Fetch for including my submission. I should have made it much clearer that any sound on the recording that wasn't the knocking is totally poor sound quality! you're right, it does sound like you can hear water but i should have said that, in the room, literally the only thing you can hear is the knocking noise ![]() |

I also wondered whether it might be a bird on the roof pecking to release moss.

You've remembered Lee - doh right ! (Italiano, innit, Eee Tal Eee An - Oh For gears, surely easiest is that you "start in a low gear in a car - 1st gear. And when you're up to 60 you're in a high gear e.g. 5th or 6th". So Low is where you start. Or another way "You start SLOW, so your gear is LOW"? Slow is low! ![]() |

Hiya - Katie, any chance you could describe best exercises for calf rehab / injury prevention in the calf thread please? fetcheveryone.com/forum/calf-injury-57000/ Thanks, G Hi G, Short answer: no ![]() Long answer: I prefer not to because it really is difficult to prescribe exercises unless you’ve at least had a chat with the individual and ideally had hands on. Calf injury could mean muscle, tendon, possibly nerve, a combination, none of the above. Sorry! I would say that Kinetic Revolution have some great ideas for rehab and strength after all sorts of injuries if you aren’t getting enough exercises from your therapist. |

Re GordonG mysterious tapping, I also instantly thought of a woodpecker. We have one which pecks at the wooden barge boards on the eaves of the roof but Gordon mentioned that it sometimes goes on for an hour and I think, if it was a woodpecker that you would see some damage if it went on that long. However, on second listening it sounds exactly like a tapping that was driving me mad a couple of weeks ago. Couldn’t track it down at all till I noticed a tiny little bird (a great tit I think) pecking at the window sill - presumably picking up insects or small things to eat. It was amazing how loud it was from a tiny creature pecking but we have uPVC windows and the hollow sill really amplifies the sound. Then again if it happens at night maybe that’s not it.

Thanks C'sD. Funny enough I did wonder about a woodpecker too. (There are so many elements of this story that I should have added to the podcast that would help clarify things - annoyed with myself I didn't). But funnily enough, in the past a pair of Chaffinch's (I think) did try to make a nest at the back of the house, but the noise is coming from almost the other side. Full summary: has only ever happened during the day sometimes just for a few seconds; longest for over one hour there are no pipes in that part of the house (the junction between the top of the bedroom wall and the loft floor) while it is happening, the noise is loud enough to be heard from the outside of the house. I've stood outside while it's happening but there's definitely nothing tapping the wall and there are no animals on the roof I've left out food in that corner of the loft. 24hrs later some parts of the food appeared to have been moved but nothing seems to have been eaten there appears to be no correlation between the knocking happening and the central heating coming on or off the noise is in the north east corner so i'd be surprised if it was being caused by the sun's heat for all these reasons I'm really confused as to what it'd be!! |

Quick question Gordon - when you go to investigate does the sound stop? From experience, if it’s some sort of creature they’ll shut up if you turn up - a bit of crashing and banging can help to make the point! If it carries on regardless, I’d suspect something more mechanical (or at least, not living) in origin
