The siren near the start confused me. I thought the storm here had caused bother and some emergency service had been summoned to the area. I had to turn the sound down before I could work out that the siren was in Bedford.
I’m perfectly happy for you to share the message in the card. I’m sure the vast majority of people on here would agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment.
I enjoyed the featured Fetchies. Jigs and Mrs Jigs sounded really happy with their fancy dress double. Rosehip’s report was great and gave a real flavour of the event.
HappyG(rrr)’s contribution was really interesting. I have blood once, in my first year at university. It didn’t go well at all and I haven’t been back since.
Great podcast with lovely contributions. I gave blood around December but prob wont go again till Fall. I have to wait 5 months in between and then I hit "marathon season". Cake is a bit hit and miss up here but I remember going with my dad to the British Legion when he would donate. I was always allowed a teacake too! I think he got a certificate and pin for 100 donations or something ridiculous.
I used to donate blood for research at work - small amounts regularly.
When I left that role I went to donate properly, manged 4 sessions, but they always struggled to find a vein and the last time I went a couple of years ago told me not to bother coming back - I may try again though.
When I moved to L'pool, I continued donating and switched to plasma, and later, platelets. Frequency of donation was greater - to do with the fluid returned to the body. By 2002, I'd racked up 500 'donations' because this type of giving counted double! I still have the plate I received.
Age brought health issues & medication, so I couldn't donate any further. Always felt it was well worthwhile.
I didn’t quite break even. Donated a few times when I was at uni (stopped because of low iron), but received 4.5 litres during surgery in 2012. No longer allowed to donate, but eternally grateful to those who do!

Contributors We love getting contributions. Here's how:
1) find somewhere with minimal background noise 2) recording on a smartphone is fine 3) start with "Hello Fetchies, it's..." 4) a couple of minutes is a good length 5) don't worry about ums, aahs and pauses. We can edit them out. 6) email the file to podcast@fetcheveryone.com
