The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
Great new song, HowFar?! Great contributions everyone. The 64 player version of WSW sounds horrifyingly interesting. Does that mean you've taken the multiplayer suggestion in the features and ramped it up? 🤣
I keep looking at the fresh black tents from decathlon, black liner to keep it cool and dark in the sleeping sections, and no poles, just inflatable beams to make for an easy set up.
Cool. Good luck with self transcendence 7 mile version Fetch. I used to run round my front garden (50 metres?) x 1,000,000 because I liked barefoot running and it was easiest bit of grass to run on.
I agree that most people's WAVAs go down above half and esp marathon, mainly because we don't have the time and professional support to train for the long stuff. An exception / outlier (we've discussed this at length in the sub 3:15 thread) is the amazing jda. I can't remember his explanation - just that he feels he is better suited to longer running?
How far?'s compositions are fab. I'd love a whole interview/article just on how he does this, in garage band, how long it takes, how he comes up with it etc.
Glad Katie's foot is behaving and hope Fetch's ham / calf combo settle down too.
I did proper laughing on train again - at Helegant and Katie's early morning wisdoms and at Fetch and Katie's banter. I probably look a right nutter!
Oh, and hallucinations in long (24 hour) races are pretty common. There was a bril thread on FB West Highland Way page during taper time (lots of inane chat!) about the best hallucinations. Mine were rocks that were sheep and people running ahead who weren't. But some of the corkers were a guy who wanted to than the person who ran in to the checkpoint with him, when there was no one there, and clowns, wizards and dragons! G
Just seen on FB that Fetch has done his 31 laps (7.75 miles of a 0.25 mile course?) self transcendence run. Did you see any clowns on spacehoppers?! Well done. G
I did 32 laps and got 6.75 miles, and would happily have done more (I was having fun, and Katie was joining in, hiding in the bushes etc), but I’ve torn my fricking calf. Got a very sharp pain, and had to hobble home. On one hand, arguably I did it to myself with 128 left turns, but on the other hand, I would have taken about an hour to walk that last 1.25 miles home. I went into the run knowing that it was a bit tight and grumbly.
As an experiment, I’d definitely recommend it (and you could offset the asymmetry by changing direction every so often).
