This is a timely bump of the thread. I’m planning to head into the garage this weekend...

Ooh good to have this thread back.
SweetPea is doing one of those "expedition" experiences that are becoming increasingly popular for secondary school students. Next year she's off to Costa Rica and one of the things she will be doing is working on a turtle beach, rescuing baby turtles and releasing them into the sea.

Anyway, they are expected to raise money to participate. She is going through our stuff like a whirling dervish. Do we need it/love it? Can I sell it? (and if no to the first why do we still have it anyway?)
Makes you think

I’ve got a busy weekend coming up. My wardrobe is finally finished so I’m going to pack it carefully with only stuff I need/want to keep. It might be hard but it’s necessary. Goal is to significantly reduce the number of boxes left over from the move.

And lots of furniture to sell, including a sofa, single bed, drawers, dressing table....

I have enjoyed my ruthless sort through my clothes. Even if something is unworn or was expensive, I have chucked anything I haven't worn recently. Same with shoes, including running shoes!

My problem is that my kids don't want to part with *anything* they have ever touched, and have incredibly good memories.

But I have made a start on the paperwork mountain (or whole range of mountains to be more accurate) and have almost burnt out the shredder.........

Special May Challenge

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
