Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Disappointed to be finishing 2nd, unless there's a miracle I'll be a half (or maybe a full 1) point behind the winner in my chess.com group. Had first place in my hands with a drawn position against Mr Fantastic, when I reached this position and fluffed it:

Full game is here chess.com

He's won/winning all of his last 4 games, including this one, to pip me at the last minute. Three of them were probably draws until a few days ago. A good effort by him to squeeze out the full point in so many endgames.

Shame as I was starting to look forward to getting soundly trounced by 11 really good players in the next round :-) Still, I was lucky to get so close really.

Interesting position. Shame you have probably missed out on getting trounced later. 😉

I saw that position and thought you would draw so was surprised you lost. Mind you, it still looks hard to figure out.

I've been watching the Anniversary cup games and a couple caught my eye. One isn't yet finished so won't post that yet but...

Congrats to JoeCarr28 for the upset of the tournament Vs jda. I wasn't sure about the sac till the very end but it was "truly an amazing move"

About one in three of my St Georges I get completely thrashed with a kingside piece sac, if I avoid that it I usually goes ok :-)

I ought to 'fess up and say that I can't take too much credit for the win against jda. The game pretty much followed a moveset from Chess.com's Opening Explorer. I suspect a lesser opponent would have deviated from the script long before the end.

That's a very difficult pawn ending jda, I'm not sure what I would have played. Instinct is axb3

axb3 is what I thought, analysis says fxg5.

Actually when you play axb3 it also says best and that fxg5 is an alternative.
