Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Of course you can Turkhish - Sign up for the Uckfield match now and I’ll lock out registration when we have 8 in our lineup (we have 6 now).

That’s it, we’re locked and loaded for the Uckfield match, no more spaces.

The match should start automatically when they have 8 players - they were waiting to see our rating strength before they fill their boards.

Well done Fetchie U1200 for beating up my main team The Great Minds 19-9.

That’s another really solid performance right down the boards.

My poor U1200 team’s morale will be shattered now thanks a bunch;)

Lost a long series to larkim .He's too good to be ranked where he is, I tried lots of my erratic play and he just adjusted all the time.

Really enjoyed those matches Gobi, and I'm as surprised as you that I managed to lock out my usual inconsistency (compared to playing daily matches against others). Sorry I've depleted some of your elo in the process. The first couple of matches went the way my games often do with some ok play and then big blunders, but the final four I managed to keep the blunders at bay and I definitely gained some good insights into how to look ahead better.

I'd lose in rapid every day of the week though as my instincts are quite poor; I needed to think through some positions quite carefully to avoid the usual easy losses.

As I said I'm the chat, I've got a low elo because I'm new to the game on chess.com (and haven't really played chess since school days or against my kids) and I've learned a tonne recently. I'm still completely lost when trying to fathom out how to mount an attack when the board is full of pieces though.

The matches were a great distraction from work too!!!

Thanks for playing me.

Larks - didn't look like you had any issues. I tried aggressive and passive play and you walked through me like a 1500. I've had to stop playing you as I'm out of ideas of how to compete.

Well, I just take it as my finest hour :-) I suspect it's all downhill from here...

You just have to look through some of my other defeats to see the inconsistency I've played with. And to be fair there were a couple of mistakes that helped me out - e.g. in the last game, you ended up trapping the rook on the B rank and I'd been nervous about you being able to maintain both rooks up to that point. I'll take the kudos for having played well, but I still think you were unlucky to find me playing some of my best games.
