So if he beats JCB (not a done deal, just looking at the match, it's even stevens) he gains promotion to Div 1, down to that week I was above him. There's been about 10 points between us the whole time. So for bigger ranking differences you'd argue it's fair, but for this kind of margin it's a lottery, and something like a speed chess play-off might be fairer?
SPR Mar 2021 12:02pm, 25 Mar 2021 33,701 posts	0 SPR I agree that small ranking gaps are pretty much ties (TBF you've been a bit higher previously but have dropped a few points over the last couple of months), but it is a tie breaker and there's no fair way really. A speed chess playoff just favours the person that is good at speed chess and it has little relation to daily chess really.
