Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I obviously bored my opponent in our match to win on time. 5-5 go fetchies!

Well played, Dio. That was such a tricky game all the way through. I got completely stuck early on and then fumbled around the board; you seemed to have the board covered wherever I went until the end.
We were both more accurate this time and, once again, at a similar level. I enjoy playing against you - your pace suits me. Thank you.

Seen a few people talking about physical chess sets.

I broke out this old travel set out the other day. The old iPhone SE is there for scale.

No idea how old it is, it was my grandads and my nan gave it to me after he died. It's not an antique as the pieces are plastic, still a lovely little set.

I made one hideously stupid mistake when I moved my Queen into a place where you could take it. I could see checkmate in two but missed the bloody obvious. It was all over after that.

You had a brilliant move according to my analysis. It also says you were on top for most of the game

I wasn't sure if you'd realised your Queen could be taken or if that was part of your plan. It still took a long time after that to get into a position where I felt I had the advantage. There were a couple of times when you took pieces without me realising they were vulnerable. It's easy to get too focused on one part of play and overlook everything else isn't it!

That's interesting, Dio; my analysis doesn't show any brilliant moves.

That is rather cute, mr d. I remember travel sets with pegs but not one as nice as that.

It was this one, the one that led to my biggest mistake

Well done Cheg - win on time is definitely Karma for Joophy’s opp taking the proverbial by going on Vacation yet again after 4 moves of the whole first game (his 3rd vacation in the match)
