Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Thanks Fetch. The first loss will come eventually but it's nice for now. I've got myself into the 1300s just with my last win (1301) so if per chance I play tonight and I'm on the verge of losing, I'll refuse to lose until tomorrow so my rating at least shows as 1301 here for one day ;-)

jda - wouldn't that rely on your opponent responding with excellent or best moves?

I wonder whether there's some differences in default depth level settings as well.

Chess.com diamond members (not me) can play around with the engine settings apparently, which might give better (but slower) post game analysis.

Does anyone else find that the chess.com app drains their phone battery very quickly?

Friday Funday. Challenges have gone out to my Divisional friends, will hopefully be able to put in a bunch of moves over the weekend, then will return to slow progress in the week.

you can export the PGN files for each of your games on chess.com and import elsewhere to analyse though its a slight faff

the stockfish chess engine is free to download (its not the absolute best but is very good) not sure if you need an interface to utilise it. PC, Mac & Linux - theres droidfish and smallfish for phones too (presume smaller)

Ive a copy of houdini chess engine which came with an older version of Fritz interface and I can use it to analyse imported PGNs if I wanted - dont usually bother and make do with chess.com anaysis, even if not quite the same standard, at my level it doesnt matter - not sharp enough for some of the subtleties of the analysis anyhow.

I like playing on the android tablet - reasonable size & touch screen simpicity
