All different regions of Scotland are different from each other. Some local authorities might. Sometimes my wife is off when schools in Aberdeenshire are still in. She works in Aberdeen City.

Nc500 will be fine then. May can often be a nice month here.
We went nc500 in July and found deserted beaches. Go for it.

When we were ex-pats, living in the Deep South, we often chose to come home in May or October. Quiet and very often the best weather. October arguably better (and perhaps with fewer midgies), but May should be good.

Couple of nights in my wee van in Arisaig. Feis na Mara music festival, a sauna and sea dip, and today a walk on Camusdarach beach.
