On my first two trips to Glasto (2008, 2009) I hired a camper from a mate of a mate. Commercial hire prices for that particular weekend are £££££! Anyway, this one was a huge 6-berth Hymer thing based around some kind of Fiat van, with cooking hob, sink, fridge, shower and WC. it was rather challenging to drive, not least because it was left-hand drive. It was a brilliant experience (Glasto was pretty good too!) but unfortunately when I went back to hire it for the third year, it was unavailable because the owner was living in it whilst his fire-gutted cottage was being repaired. My mrs hates the idea of camping / caravanning etc but I have had a hankering to buy one ever since, would be dead handy for far-flung races or for track days on the bike. |

This is the inside of our VW, Still work in progress which is the nice thing as you can do things in stages. Nice thing about VW's are they are easy to drive and use as a car, we have cooking hob, sink, fridge but no shower or WC. |

I got it supplied and fitted by Uberbus http://www.uberbus.co.uk/, but it's a 2 seater Crash tested rock & roll bed made by RIB with 3 point seat belts

I couldn't find any photos, but this one is the spit of ours - 1971 Devon camper, same colour, straight up and down roof, single sliding door on the passenger side, two wooden box seats - the stove was folded in the one nearest the door, the other was storage, you could slide a board between these seats and put a cushion on it to make an extra seat, no seat belts of course - it was 1971, there was a double bench backseat with more storage underneath and the sink on the passenger side. the table top was stowed against the other side and the leg screwed into a hole in the floor, the bunks were about 2 feet wide nylon and rolled up against the roof [IMAGE] |

oh and the wooden boards that formed the seat backs all slid out and fitted together laid flat to form the double bed - it was really very clever

Halfpint - this is what we use for the Berlingo. The only issue you might have is that it really needs two people to lift it in and out (not sure how big quarterpint is!) Ours is a different awning but the inside stuff is the same.

Oooh!! I might have to add Berlingo plus kit to the ever increasing list of 'things to save for' - which currently includes deposit for a house and 40th birthday trip to NZ where we will hire a camper and travel around kayaking, MTBing etc etc.
