We are halfway to Bude. Hardly any traffic on the M1 so we made good time to Birmingham.

Current ETA 6am.

Sounds like lots of you are having great van adventures this weekend. We left home early yesterday in our van and drove to the Ben Lawers range where we climbed the two furthest West munros. Then we met up with our friend Gina (who also owns an Alphard) at the Creag Meagaidh nature reserve near Loch Laggan.

They have a public toilet there and are happy to have folk sleep in their campervans in the car park for a donation. It was a lovely place to stay. Nothing beats waking up in the van then walking up some hills without a 3 hour drive first. The Creag Meagaidh range is stunning:

I fell off the top of Meagaidh 30 odd years ago in a white out. The plateau is a scary place in winter, huge cornices, featureless, big drops. Nice in the summer though!

Omg Dillthedog that sounds horrendous, I hope you were OK? There was still quite a lot of snow as this picture of JRitchie in the distance shows:

I tried to stay well away from the edges. We avoided the snow patch in 'The Window' by taking a higher path but it meant a steep descent with some scree. I was more nervous of walking on snow which might move than the scree.

AC it was our first time there but we will definitely be back.

Thanks GM and HP.

Sitting in the van listening to the rain outside. It’s worked out well for the Glorious gravel event we’ve done this weekend, although Nic has not enjoyed being in the van again.

It’s probably back to my odd weekend away vehicle…

Also sitting in van listening to rain. Yesterday was glorious, so not all bad.
