Left Friday after work, only travelled an hour away, but that's far enough to get somewhere nice. Stayed at Speyside Gardens campsite. Really nice site near Aberlour. Very quiet. Had some champagne and charcuterie on arrival before making a nice curry. Slept on and off the first night. Wasn't too cold, despite temp dropping to 1 degrees through the night. The campsite was dead silent all night. Wide awake at 6am, but that's fairly normal. Nice to waken up to hear the birds. Really nice walk on Saturday, restful afternoon and then out for a really good meal.

It worked well enough despite the weather; we arrived in a snowstorm so took our meal as a takeaway rather than sit in the garden. The pub was south of Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria. We got to see the surrounding fells this morning when the storm had given way to glorious sunshine
