Willow Tit is a spectacular spot WS...at least down here in South Wales; its abundance and distribution has shrunk dramatically over the last decade or so.

Pft probably was a sparrow hawk then.... I'll have to be less obvious and predicable they are far too clever... though of course they have to eat too just not my robin :)

I see a green woodpecker on our lawn occasionally, and we have a regular Robin, at least i assume it's the same one.

bonners
Never seen a snow bunting, great spot as they seem quite camouflaged. We have them in Kinmel Bay at the moment, but not seen any.

For me, it was a case of being stalked today. Went out on a run, came back and the waxwings were back by the railway bridge. Next I took the in-laws' dog for a walk along the river and the waxwings and lo and behold they've appeared by the pond where I normally see the Little Egret. Still not finished, I then go out to work, sat on my drive setting up my satnav, notice a lot of movement and the flock are in the trees opposite stripping them of berries. I guess they must be ready to move on as they are searching the neighbourhood and stripping any last berries?

My favourite spot of the day though was loads of larks along the river. Loads of singing and 'dancing' today, one of my favourite sounds. They're surely not getting ready to mate are they? Isnt it far too early?

Surelynot
Sounds like a great day bonners.

Is it folklore that says birds are paired up and ready to go by Valentines day? Can't remember where I read that.
