All my starlings, 4 nests, seem to have fledged. As usual, I didn't see any of the young ones.
At least the poo splatter is over for another year.

I don't know where the nests were but at the moment I've regularly got families of blackbirds, starlings, sparrow and magpies popping in for food (I don't feed them) and a bath each day.

Saw a fledgling jay yesterday and a walk along the Nith revealed a goosander with 10 chicks.

We've had young starlings the last couple of days. I'm expecting some fledgling sparrows to head over from across the road soon, there has been activity going in and out of the nests.

We have a huge flock of young starlings visiting our garden and next door now. Must be at least 30 of them. They’re making a bit of a mess, but I figure that they’ll disperse soon.

Starling feeding a youngster peanuts. 5 blue tits, 3 youngsters, 2 adults feeding them, I think.
Are birds the only thing (except maybe humans) where you can tell the youngsters because they're bigger and noisier than the parents?

Great views of a black tern at Conwy RSPB today. Managed to tick off another 39 species for a good day's birding.
Heading to South Stack tomorrow (today!), so should up that number a lot

Heading off in a few days time to south west France near Carcassonne on holiday, spending some time on the coast (Med) and then a few days in hills inland. Anything I should be hoping to see there? I'd like to see hoopoes, but maybe some other things which we don't get here, or hardly ever anyway. Blue rock-thrush?
