I finally got a good enough sighting of a long tailed tit to positively identify it and take a photo. There is quite a squeaky gang of them in our local park.

Bit blurry but that’s the great white egret taking off after the dark blob (female marsh harrier) swooped in and nicked whatever it was trying to eat

I love long tails Scribbler, think they’re one of my favourite birds.

Charming little birds, aren't they, Scribbler? We had 5 of them at once on the suet pellets today, their tails sticking out in all different directions. Wish I could have taken a photo like yours, but I have neither the camera (or, more accurately, lens) nor the skills.

Funny you should post that Scribs, I just popped in to say I’m pretty sure I spotted a few long tailed tits on my walk this afternoon. Lifer for me too :-)

LTT are a classic bird to listen out for. I very often hear them before I see them

My favourites. Especially at this time of year when they come visiting the feeders in their family groups. The sound of them moving around in the treetops overhead is the accompaniment to many of my woodland runs at the moment.

There are a gang of them that come to the fat balls. They are easily the most coordinated group. You’d never get that number of goldfinches feeding together. They just spend their time arguing with anything else in the area and throwing seeds everywhere.

First siskin of the winter in the garden today. I expect more will arrive in the next month or so as the supply of seeds from alder cones dries up in the countryside.

Family of seven LTTs filling up on fat balls this morning, all arranged neatly on the same feeder 😀
