Me too Chrisity. One Swift yesterday and then a Cuckoo tonight. Never seen or heard a Cuckoo that close (I was within about a mile and a half) to home though in 21 years of living here.

Went for a walk past the loch to my local farm shop this morning. Then took a run on the beach in the acternoon. Logged 29 species, from Whitethroats and Yellowhammers to Eider Ducks and Fulmars.

D2 has started taking note of the birds in our garden. Very excited to point out a new one (for her) this morning - a goldfinch.

SteveC..great Lapwing photo! I rarely see Lapwings and have only seen them once in thirty years within a ten mile radius of where I live. Good total there Tom..29 species along a beach. Impressive. D2-- get signed up for the BTO Garden Bird Watch, been going for twenty five years. (it costs though!) As for Cuckoo, House Martin, Swallow or Swift---I STILL haven't this year! Usual stuff out on my morning run, Lesser Whitethroat, Reed and Cetti's.

Bird watching is amazing. I thought swallow were pretty ubiquitous, I’d be unlucky to go out twice and not see a dipper but then I’ve now chance of Cetti’s
The swift situation seems to be grim over chunks of the country

We're up to about six swift screaming over our house - that's the biggest group so far and I've only seen that once. Usually it's just 4.
Last year it was regularly nearer 9 in the group, sometimes bigger.

A jackdaw has discovered our fat ball feeder. It’s doing a grand job hanging on in the wind.
