Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

HowFar?
Ah - I have heard a call like that youngster’s one, usually around dusk, quite a few times over the last few years and never knew what it was. I thought it was coming from the kestrel that seems to nest in the same group of trees. I haven’t heard it yet this year, but it is usually a bit later I’m the year than this that I hear it.

Thanks for the information, DT.

Walking across the green this morning with Ralph, the usual gang of starlings was breakfasting on the leatherjackets. There was one that looked too big and strange - it was only when they all took off on our approach, that I realised it was a lapwing.

That's a fantastic picture of the LEO. Thanks for sharing.

I watched a song thrush yesterday in my garden going into a flower bed and emerging with snails. It then smashed open the shells on one of the steps we have in the garden.

Feeders are really busy at the moment Fat balls are popular. I'm having to refill every 48 hours.

Impossible to top your LEO Howfar!! What a fantastic find. Worth reporting to your local Bird/Orni Society for their Bird Report. (Ok..you probably are a member anyway!)
Usual spots on my morning run : Lesser Whitethroat singing, Reed and Cettis singing at three sites. The expected other songsters but a pity about the continued absence of Willow Warblers.
Great running weather just after dawn.

What a fabulous pic HF? 😀😀😀 Excellent!!! Yep, don’t think that’ll be topped for a while!

We’ve been for a longer walk today - swift, swallows, skylark and a yellowhammer 😀
