As I said, I'm a beginner. On my run today I believe I snapped a Northern Lapwing, according to my Merlin bird ID app.

SteveCRunner, lapwings are smashing birds. They make a wonderful 'pee-wit' call, and have a very striking flying motion, with their rounded wings. Numbers have been dropping badly in Britain over the last few decades. Hope things are better in the Netherlands.

Popping in to say hi! Loads of lapwings and chicks in the fields around here. I've seen more this year than any other.
