Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Fewer house martins here than usual, Flanker :( we've never had them under our eves for some reason but I'd say only about 1/3 of the usual number are back to the houses where I usually see them.

Bird song started at 4.33 this morning.

I heard both parts of an owl call last night, but not in the conventional written way of “too-wit too-woo. It was the other way round, which I think was the male call first followed by the female’s response.

The goldfinches seem especially brightly coloured this year, one flew up in front of me this morning and the yellow was like looking into the sun by mistake and not almost being blinded!! :)

Listened to a garden warbler for some time yesterday. Lovely song, and I was able to make out the difference from a blackcap's song quite clearly when heard alongside each other. Also, a cuckoo on my local patch giving it some welly - the closest and most sustained cuckooing I've ever heard there.

Fantastic time of year to be out running, the birdsong is amazing.

Lovely walk to the park this morning to take some photos. Saw and photographed a wren, blackbird, moorhen and blue tit. Also saw squirrels, goldfinches and a pied wagtail on my way to get milk.
