A few swallows this week, but no swifts and still very few martins.

Just watched two very cross collared doves chase a magpie out of my plum tree. They're not nesting in it, so why they got so cross I don't know - but the saw it off.

Magpies are a threat to pretty much all common birds. I saw one carry away a young blackbird the size of a starling from its parents once

We have loads of swifts here, and the house martins are back. eL Bee! was amused to see "sparrows" sticking to the side of a house high up, and we've had an egg shell.

I've also seen, in two separate places, a little green bird, longer and more uniformly green than a greenfinch. I'm scratching my head. My best guess is "escaped budgies".

Rosehip, we have a couple of collared doves that frequent our garden. They are quite feisty in particular towards the wood pigeons.

I wish they'd chase of the woodpigeons from here - they're so big and clumsy, make a din when they sit on the chimney and keep sh*tting on my car!

Not sure I've ever heard a snipe make that noise DT. Or any noise come to that!

It’s hard to imagine that something that size can produce so much sh*t (woodpigeons).
