Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Juvenile Starling from an early brood might be the best shout yet DT. My guide suggests May onwards but it's not infeasible they could be a few weeks ahead given the mild winter.

Spotted oystercatchers and eiderduck at the mouth of the Tyne this morning. Then a grey wagtail in the park. Heard the woodpecker but couldn’t see it

No DT they were just floating along by the rocks. We’re more used to seeing them at a wildlife park but I don’t think I’ve ever heard them. Only had 24-70 lens on today so not good enough for photos

D2..the only bird of that colour really would/could be a Nuthatch.
Whitethroat well settled in territories near my home and on run routes. No sign of Lesser Whitethroat yet, presence nearly always given away by distinctive song.
Usual Cettis this morning.

We’ve been putting meal worms down just outside on our patio. I’ve been impressed by Scruffy, the name we’ve given to a male blackbird. He’s busy with beakfuls of worms and grubs. Occasionally he pops down to have a good feed of meal worms, before flying off with a beakful back to the nest.

Came into the kitchen to find 30 starlings in the back garden but in the fence next to them was a house sparrow which was a first in the garden for us. Really loving seeing the increasing variety of birds we are getting.
