Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sorry, another first in the garden. All the starlings were back, 3 sparrows, and then a goldfinch came. It's been an exciting half hour. And managed to get outside with the camera without scaring them all off.

thanks for all the suggestions, I think it might have been a nuthatch. My description was odd I know, but I liked the comment about no neck that I think is what I was seeing ....... a straight line along its back from tail to beck. Not seen it again but am keeping watch. :)

Nice DT. Missing the Cuckoos this year. Despite having the habitat we just don't get them here. I need Boris to get the golf course open and then I can go and hear the Cuckoo (amongst other things!) or let me take the van to the west coast of Scotland, I had over two weeks of wall to wall Cuckoos up there last May.

've not heard "my" cuckoo yet this year. whether that's because it hasn't made it home or because I'm not walking the dog as far in the mornings ATM I don't know. Will have to get off my moon and go for an early run and see if I can hear it

Fragile Do Not Bend
There was a cuckoo over on the heathland today. I got a brief view of a plain-looking warbler there, after listening to a few warbler songs on my phone I think it was a garden warbler.

I was also trying to identify a song I kept hearing in the hedges along the lanes, managed a brief view of a warbler-shaped bird, this time it had a lighter front than it’s back. I couldn’t see an obvious white throat but whitethroat seemed to be the best match for the song that I could find.

Beginning to think out House Martins didn't make it this year. There are some around locally, but all out nests are conspicuously empty :-(

No cuckoos for me this year. We always hear them on a couple of our mountain walks, which obviously aren't happening this year.
