I quite liked it, beating in the above in mind.

I found it almost excruciating to watch, and I like to think that I’m open to interpretations, even for things that I know well and love. But some of the decisions about the plot and character, not to mention the special effects, just felt like they had zero connection to the source material. I think I made it through 2 or 3 episodes and decided not to torture myself any further. The problem is that the pictures and special effects are so much better in the books!
