I think a pressure pad, as anti over the top tech I am is a good idea. You could measure from the centre of the pressure applied by the foot on take-off rather than an arbitrary line in the sand.
Jumpers could just go bonkers every jump.

That race yesterday is a perfect example of one where only the gold medalist would be happy on initial viewing. If Neita had issues, she could be happy considering but given the issues came up just before the race, she's hardly likely to have contextualised and even with time, a one of issue is harder to take TBH especially with a chance of a win.

Final comment on LJ. The technical rules (8.5) deal mainly with an athlete protesting a "foul" that they believe is incorrectly given with the concept of an immediate oral protest. Nothing really deals with another athlete protesting a "good jump" other than that a plain reading of the whole section on protests doesn't exclude the possibility that another coach or athlete could protest someone's performance.
If the jump was recorded as a foul but they protest, the rules give scope for an athletes performance to be continuing "under protest" and flagged as such. At the very least that same approach should be in place for a "good jump" which is protested, but because the rules allow for any protest to be lodged within 30 minutes of the event finishing there's no obligation on a competitor or their coach to signal their protest about another athlete's jump until afterwards.

Neita did seem a bit pissy. Possibly with A-S, Possibly with the interviewer. After all A-S was interviewed first when Neita actually won a medal.
If Neita could start a touch better she would win. Good lean from the German mind.
A-S struck me as completely losing confidence in her body. OH! that stuff in the relay, nothing there, it was 'neural', er what? What is that? No tear as reported. I reckon it is back to the drawing board again for her. If all the Jamaicans are fit and well, plus a few others doing well, including Neita then A-S doesn't win, probably not even a medal. Maybe she is struggling with that as much as anything. Must be very difficult to reach the top and then it all goes, fitness, mentality whatever it is. Who knows, but she looked very nervous at the start...
Hughes did well considering he is a 200m man really, equally Azu.

DAS equalled the national record this year. Neita is running well but she's not ahead of DAS who got fourth and third at the WC. The Jamaican trio are ahead of everyone on top form in the 100. Fourth was great from DAS there and so was third in the 200.

She did indeed. A month is a long time.

I thought that interview was a bit disrespectful. It was all "oh Dina, how are you Dina, such a shame Dina, will you be ok Dina" and then "oh yeah Daryll you got a medal, well done I suppose". A bare thousandth off gold when you know you can run quicker has to be a bit upsetting too.

Form isn't going to drop in a month unless there's some issues (injury, fatigue, etc) and regardless of what caused the relay issue, all obviously wasn't ok at that point.
I was disappointed the coverage kept mentioning cramp as a nutrition issue, thought we'd moved past that a while ago.

SPR's post sums up where Neita and DAS are right now pretty well. A better start and finish could have won the last night's 100 for Daryll. Her starts are either poor or not great at best but last night it was her dip free finish that cost her a better medal.

Maybe. Very top form when you are thinking 100ths of a second perhaps.
