Bake things like stuffing balls or meat balls in a bun tin. I tried this last week and it was awesome.

On my watch, there's some settings for GPS signal. And one of them says something like 'Use GLONASS'. I didn't have a clue what it was, but I turned it on, because it sounded like it might be something that would enhance the accuracy. But no. What I've just figured out (because frustration) is that GLONASS is just a Russian GPS system. It apparently has better accuracy at extreme latitudes, but otherwise, GPS is better. So I've figured out that if I turn it off, I might be less likely to have a trace that goes all over the place. Hopefully. |

Except that Suunto completely disagree with my hypothesis: suunto.com |

I was looking at the GPS options last week (I hadn't realised there were options before) and couldn't decide between GPS, GPS+Galileo or GPS + GLONASS. The inter web led me to believe GLONASS was the best option for now. I'm interested to know if I should just stick with GPS.....

[The Suunto site is suggesting that using both GPS + GLONASS offers a good combo... if you can't get a lock on one, you might get a lock with the other. I'm going to try with just GPS for a bit, and see how I go.]

Fetch, the default setting for recent Garmins is GPS + GLONASS as well.

I also found this on the Suunto pages for my specific watch: "GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is an alternative positioning system to GPS. With GLONASS enabled, your watch may record a more accurate track in certain conditions. Particularly in urban areas with tall buildings, GLONASS can improve track accuracy. In other areas, it is typically best to leave GLONASS disabled. With GLONASS enabled, your watch consumes more battery life." I'll give it a try like this. My data was all over the place this morning in the wooded area of my run. |

The Oxo tip from the previous page is ace. Obvious in hindsight, but in all my 54 years it's never occurred to me!
