I'm ancient enough to have voted in the last referendum :-o (where did those years go?), and indeed it was wierd to see Powell and Benn on the same ticket (though neither would share a table/meeting). Each used different logic, Powell on the "we're full and we can't take any more of these bloody foreigners taking our jobs" line and Benn on the "we're handing our democratic process over to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels" line.

Sounds just like today actually or should I say plus ca change.........

Only if you're voting to stay In, macca.... We can't take any more of these bloody foreign languages taking our words.

It's not the taking of our words that''s the problem.

It's using the letters of these words in other words back in their own country.

We should restrict them to only using a proportion of letters commensurate with the number of words in their own language.

The French get very upset about the use of English words invading their language, so much so that the Toubon law of 1994 means that any new English technology word must be replaced by a French one... until their culture minister told them to stop being so bloody silly (paraphrased)

I think they have confirmed le weekend as a proper French word now haven't they?

*We* on the other hand would never contemplate being forced to use French words or even worse being presented with a fait accompli ;)

I agree - that would definitely be a faux pas

At least on Fetch I can actually vote!

My worst nightmare is an out vote. I earn less than £35.000 a year, so I would be deported. I am actually quite anxious about this. What about my house, my business, my employees?

Also, by having g lived in the UK for 20 years and not paid any taxes in the Netherlands I have, rightly, lost my rights there... I wonder if the government would put some mutual arrangement in place whereby expat Brits sent home to the UK get exchanged for expat Euros living in the UK?

It would also be very interesting to see the country collapse without us. My plan B is to move to Southern Italy. I can run my business from there, but would need the time and opportunity to liquidate and sell assets etc etc

SIGH!

I just hope the uneducated bigoted masses are outnumbered...

oh Hann what a situation for you :(

I hope it goes the right way - if not Mr Farage and Mme Lepen will probably set off from opposite ends of the chunnel with thousands of *foreigners* to be symbolically repatriated :(:(
