I’m oddly tempted, but MrsPH is saying no. Will have to work on that!

I've found this thread + reports, and the facebook page, to be quite inspiring! Its all delightfully nuts. I spent some of Saturday evening dot watching...and planning a route for if I was ever mad enough to go for it. And I think I've convinced myself it's a good idea! What's this 'quiz for entry codes' all about then?...

7pm, Thursday evening - they release a quiz with about 15-20 questions. Last year, each answer was a number. You string all the numbers together, and it forms a voucher code that gives you access to 50 early entries.
Typically the questions were along the lines of "after how many seconds do the bells ring in this music video?" or something like that. All stuff you can Google/find out, as I recall.

And when you have your answers, and build your code, you can see if it works. If it doesn't, I found that you can message the organiser - he was on hand to help clarify any ambiguous clues, or to nudge you in the right direction.

Fetch very kindly mapped some route options for the gold medal! I’ll grab the link. We used it as a guide for our intended journey north.

NB Only ever to be used as a starting point
I would *not* recommend some A roads, and it's certainly a good idea to scour every inch of your potential route to check for the availability of pavements alongside roads, ideal parking spots for supporters, 24hr shops, toilets, that sort of thing.

Google Earth is great for this sort of thing. When you plot your route on Fetch (obviously ), you can export it as KML, which you can then import to Google Earth. It gives a much clearer picture than just a satellite view.

I figure the planning is a big part of the fun for this sort of thing. Possibly more fun than the actual, y'know, running bit And I very much love the route planning tools we have here! Thanks for the tips!

The planning was definitely fun. The boy was very much a "turn up and play" competitor, but I enjoyed figuring it all out for us.
