Something else to add into the mix is the Chinese car manufacturers. So far no Chinese car manufacturer has managed to make any inroads to the European market with traditional petrol/diesel models. That is all going to change as a number of Chinese manufacturers try their hand with pure EV models. The first is likely to be Xpeng who are launching a couple of models in Norway which has an advanced EV market already. The Xpeng G3 and P7 models are feature rich with lots of range for not much money - the G3 sells in China for around £16k. Following Xpeng is likely to be Nio who are considered a Tesla competitor in China and the ES6 model is worth a look at. It may be a year or so until these two arrive in the UK but when they do they will shake up the incumbant European car manufacturers and drive the prices downwards. dobbers |

Been out today to take a quick look over a Zoe and an e208 and despite the better range in the Zoe the e208 looks like the likely choice for us - not least as there’s availability it seems. Didn’t get chance for a test drive, but to be honest a car is a car, they’ve got 4 wheels and go from A to B. Hopeful I can get delivery before the end of July.

I'm more in the *a car is just a car* camp than Mr WA. There are some cars I wouldn't want tho, so I am a bit picky. When I was talking to Mr WA about getting an electric car when the mini finally packs up, he got on to the websites, reviews etc. His conclusion? *I just can't get excited about an electric car* His favourite thread on his favourite website is about huge older (not classic) cars that you can buy for a few grand. Huge in size, spec and fuel consumption- usually top of the range when they were released. So the opposite of the small, economical, environmentally friendly car that I want!

hahahaha - when I bought my Panda (Bright ORANGE commuter car) I contemplated something like a Jag S type deisel/Merc ClS (35 or so mpg) however everything else in owning it was stupid money. I'm 50 this year and the insurance quote on an 800 pound car was beyond a joke and probably the thing that finally stopped me.

I already use an ebike (Cannondale) and an e-scooter (Ninebot Max) to get to trailheads for running, and for shopping and errands, so it’s hard to justify an e-car at the moment, since the petrol one gets used very little.
