Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Indeed. Mum reported yesterday that she had told her GP she wanted to stay in the area when she downsizes.

That means she's either forgotten the conversation about moving in with us; doesn't want to; or thinks we are prepared to move to a village in Surrey. Either way at least we know it won't be happening.

I guess that's sort of good news Linds?

Sorry Carp I forgot to say earlier - it sounded as though you'd given your MiL a really nice day out.

A very old lady told me today that her family used to say, when her M-I-L moved into a home, everyone else would move out.

So Garmin says I was more stressed thus afternoon at the funeral and wake than doing a potter at 29 degrees this morning

Mum went up as soon as we got home

Just had to drive son to station so only just got a drink.

Been a long day and very hot.

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
