Off to the Island tomorrow to see my Mum, Sis & Brother.
Since my last contribution Mum has had another TIA, and spent a week in respite where the manager wanted to send her to hospital because she was sleepy and refusing drinks.... sister over-ruled them, and now she's home and "behaving". I.e. Sleeping, drinking, eating a little, and sleeping again. And repeat.
Allegedly we're going to celebrate my birthday with a family meal. And signing of a PoA. I think it will be rather bittersweet.
Having seen the writing in my birthday card (literally a scrawl - she would be appalled if she saw it again) I think she probably fell asleep mid-signing.

(My last post above Dio's looks a bit inappropriate now)
Hugs to all who need them.
In good news, grandma got out of hospital today. She's able to go to the loo with the aid of a frame, so she's doing well 10 days after major surgery.

A pretty stressful hour or two here. Dad's in a rehab place, and arrived today and he called me at 1pm, was really happy, which made me happy. Then, it all kicked off at 6pm when he called again saying that the staff had dropped him on his leg with the amputated foot. He was very distressed, very tearful, quite frankly, seemed very scared. He was saying he couldn't stay and needed to go home immediately.
Not knowing what to do, I went over to the care home with his partner, and was able to see him through the window, speak to the staff (who were also frustrated with the situation), and smooth everything over eventually. He was threatening to get in a taxi and go home, but he's staying, thankfully.
I don't think they did drop him. I think they were using a hoist, which he's not used before, and I think he was probably apprehensive of using it, and it went downhill rapidly from there. I'm guessing, but if the care staff did anything "wrong", it's probably that they may not have explained fully what they were doing, so he didn't understand what was happening.
But, crisis averted, for now at least. It's the massive ups and downs that I really struggle to cope with! 1pm everything was great....and then 6pm it wasn't.
