Diogenes
This song came on my playlist as I was painting the hallway a bright colour, and I thought it was appropriate for this thread, especially after this winter:

Ness
My Newt today was driving Mr Ness to our GP surgery for his Covid jab. He wanted me to drive in case he had a reaction to the jab. He’s fine at the moment. I’m getting him to make me a cuppa now. ;)

We have pruned our crab apple tree for the first time. I’ve even taken some before pictures of the garden (empty except weeds and the tree) as I can feel a sorting the garden newt coming on. Only been here nearly 2.5 years! :)

My newt today is buying lots of new plants at the garden centre, time to get some things established before it warms up!
I also bought sunflower seeds ready for the Bigleggy challenge :)

Short sleeved run for the first time this year. And I saw a ladybird as I was leaving the house. Spring is on its way 😀

Can I join albeit a bit late?

If so my new thing today is I read the instructions on my yeast and discovered it needs to be activated prior to use - hoping today’s pizza dough appreciates my efforts (I have used a whole tin without realising it needed activating 😂)

The Great Raemondo
I have a friend called Elaine. She's younger than me, and Irish, and very very lovely.

My newt today is that I finally used the cones and skipping rope (and the new ladder thing that arrived on Thursday) to do circuits in a park with a friend from rugby this morning, and this afternoon I think I'm going to plant up some bulbs in pots to brighten up the garden. It'll be a while before the heavy landscaping is done and we can get it all looking pretty, but no reason we can't have some colour in the meanwhile.

Always good to read the instructions, gg ;-)

No newts for me yesterday but today I'm working on one of my slightly longer-term ones. I've never got past the 2nd round on the WSW Multimatch so this will be my goal for next week. Before then I actually need to claim enough squares to get me *into* the 2nd round! So I'm off for a long walk and I have a list of the streets I need to go down to get lots of squares. There'll be a fair bit of back-tracking and it'll be pretty boring. Wish me luck! :-)

My Newt for today is a visit to a community centre in a neighbouring village so that Mrs a61 can have her COVID jab. I wasn’t allowed in with her so she’s brandishing her white signal stick and heaven help anyone who gets between her and the door in this rain! We now have a gentle wager on whether I’ll get my first jab before she gets her second!

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
