I seem to have run out of momentum for Newts. Not sure why...other than this is my last week at work before two weeks off, and my last time off was at Christmas.

Although, I have started my Singing For Beginners class part II. I’m practicing my breathing exercises, but I’m not very good at them. Last week’s lesson was enlivened by a lady called Lesley who kept trying to join, failing to join and being kicked out by Zoom. I hope she’s managed to sort it out by Wednesday.

So envious!

No idea when pools will open here, but apparently they're unlikely to lift restrictions like the curfew or allow terraces to open before JUNE, which doesn't bode well :(

My daughter has decided, quite reasonably, that she'd like her granny and uncle over in our garden for a barbecue for her birthday next month.

So I have a newt for the next few weeks of learning to cook properly over charcoal - our previous barbecues have been on a gas-fired camping grill which wasn't big enough for six, so I've bought a family sized charcoal barbecue that I'm going to have to practice with.

I might also, seeing as how I'm in the garden anyway, work on making our garden look nicer. I've never been one for gardening, though, so I suspect that might fizzle out.

I have bought a newt sheepskin, a cast iron trivet, created a newt firepit all in the wild garden by the pond so I can host friends. Put the kettle on on the fire or even cook something simple, while we sit around said fire. I have two comfy chairs there, but can gather 4 more from elsewhere...
In fact, at this rate, I shall put two of them out this week. And get 2 more sheep skins... I rarely have more that 4 people round, so one person will need to sit on a bistro chair if it came to happen...

I ordered an extra brown bin collection (garden waste) online, at three in the morning.

Does this win a prize for "Dullest Newt"?

No. Don’t think so.

My garden has dried out so I’ve been able to mow the lawn for the first time this spring. That’s a pretty dull newt. I enjoyed my bit od gardening though. :)

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
