Sharkie, it didn’t actually feel that strange, before COVID I had 2 long gaps from work due to health issues, so I’m kind of used to it now.

More than one thing, I think, Sharkie, as is usually the way :)
Being retired and not tired - exhausted on some days - all the time (sleep is so much better now than it has been for a few years, today being a Mad Dog Jess inflicted exception) has made a world of difference.

Being able to run when I want to instead of being tied to 5:30am or 7pm as long as there weren't any evening meetings or work to do means I've been running 4 x a week every week so am out more consistently. All my runs have been in daylight this year so far :)

Also, The Calf Pain and Achilles Tightening have vanished and this has been a significant change. I believe that it was down to the shoes I was wearing, despite being fitted at proper running shops a few times over the previous years. The model I have worn since 2010 had been slightly modified around 2014, when the pain started, and the modification (something to do with a stability bar in the sole) was amended again in 2019 and since wearing 2019 and 2020 season shoes, that tightening in my calf and the ache that went down into my foot has just disappeared. I could only do a mile before it kicked in on just about every run since May 2014, after straining my calf on a walk up Skiddaw.

Whatever the reason, I'm really happy that I can run regularly and see progress after nearly abandoning running for good on so many frustrated occasions in the past 6 years.

I’m sightseeing RH 😂 this darn phone is ridiculous. I bought it in Japan and I swear they’ve added a special predictive text option to it 🧐

Ok so I’ve got quite a lot booked in race wise and I’ve just booked 3 more marathons one of which is a double, one I’ve booked they are producing medals with names on but haven’t got an actual date yet! I bought a ‘season ticket’ for my favourite local race organiser so I’m just ornvillingbthem in and keeping everything crossed! Looks like my Easter triple marathon is going ahead too, then later in the year I’ve got a 100km trail race and a 25 hour track race! Still not sure how I will stay awake for that!

I booked GSR so far. A race in early May from last year was cancelled before the announcement (think it could have happened but I suppose they didn’t want the uncertainty)
Hopefully adventure races will start in April, not sure what else I want to sign up for actually...

So many newts!
Love the mimos!
Also: yes, Sharkie, agreed, we need a skort parade!
I also have a shakti mat, gift from my sister, never used it but I never thought about using it with a top on to begin with.
Kids in wheelbarrows sound like great fun!
Another brilliantly sunny day. Lots of bulbs coming out. Over night the mini daffs by the kitchen window are out and shining! And, have you see the moon?
My NEWT is taking a good photo of the full moon with a phone cam!

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
