Santa - agree 100% - was going to try to double-up on support but amazingly Ju1ia said she fancied a 900 mile round trip in the camper van just to hand out water and a sandwich and wipe my nose every couple of hours.

Flip - if you want to set up a scam Devil then don't let me stop you. £25 and drop bags and a friendly face at the start would see me in.

BUT - for all that, once the side issues are all put aside, the Devil is a beautiful race!

you'll be the first to know of any scams minty !

I've only run the devil once but enjoyed it very much . if you're doing the whw then the devil and fling make good sense the year before as well but it is quite expensive and limited numbers.

fenland , we could all just run the route but it's not the same . I enjoy races and the buzz that goes with them.

on another note , did anyone stay in the new travellodge ? I quite like premier inns for races (no wedding birthday do 's , nice beds, sound proofed and clean and tidy) but often been let down by travel lodges .it's good we have more rooms up there though and more competition as I've never been able to get a cheap room in the FW premier ever .

Team M1nty had rooms at the Travellodge (as well as the Belford). Only there for a few hours but it seemed nice enough, but no easy parking and there was some kerfuffle about bookings and so on. SpicedApple or Ju1ia might have more details.

Travelodge was very clean - if a little soulless - and we had decent-sized rooms. There was a mix-up over rooms which was unfortunate, but hopefully that was a one-off. The trick is to book early for cheap prices. One of our nights was really cheap and the other was quite pricey, but needs must for WHW race.

What are other folk doing about the back-up requirements?
You must have a back-up vehicle (car, 4x4 if you have one (not required though!!)...
Who fancies a fantastic day out in the beautiful North West of Scotland on the legendary West Highland Way, supporting the lovely Sophster? Team of 2 would be best: a driver/sandwich maker and a runner/Muller rice opener. Eternal gratitude, fetchie fame and gold and jewels will be yours. (*)

It's Sat 7 August. Come on Fetchland.

* I may have lied about the gold and jewels
