I think Johnny Devil is going to be his August name now Gus!

Yeah, great improvements straight away. It will only from strength to strength with JD at the helm, I'm sure. :-) G

It was only the support thing that stopped me from entering last year. Any idea when entries open for 2015?

Quite a few have been asking when entries open on the FB group, but no answer yet.

This now goes from must-avoid to must-do in next year's calendar. Wonder what the race limit will be set at? The open nature of the track from Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy would quickly spread out the field. 500? Higher? Lower? Your thoughts?

Anybody going to run this as slow as me and share a crew?

FR don't need a crew anymore unless you desperately want one, drop bags and water supplied along route. It was the necessary crew which put me off doing this again but now that's not needed I might be tempted to do it

_andy, you know I love you but there is no way DotH should have 500 runners., especially in its first year with a new RD. My best suggestion to Johnny Fling would be to take the existing limits, and then see what he can change/improve on for the future. A more civilised start time would be my first preference!

:-) Mwah Duchess! :-)

I just felt that the 1000 limit for the Fling would be a bit too much for the Devil... (lights touch paper and stands back)

With you on a more civilised start time though - although it's nice to finish by lunchtime... and on heatwave days, that early start is good.

I'm still uneasy about a 1000 limit on the Fling...different topic. I don't think that stretch of the WHW is anywhere near as capable as dealing with volumes of people as the southern part. The logistics of the checkpoints aren't as easy as the southern ones either with only Glencoe offering any sizeable vehicle capacity. BoO and Lundavra absolutely can't cope with large numbers of crews or supporters (even when they're voluntary not mandatory).

What are other folk doing about the back-up requirements?
You must have a back-up vehicle (car, 4x4 if you have one (not required though!!)...
Who fancies a fantastic day out in the beautiful North West of Scotland on the legendary West Highland Way, supporting the lovely Sophster? Team of 2 would be best: a driver/sandwich maker and a runner/Muller rice opener. Eternal gratitude, fetchie fame and gold and jewels will be yours. (*)

It's Sat 7 August. Come on Fetchland.

* I may have lied about the gold and jewels
