I fitted butterfly bars to my drop bar gravel bike. I had to get mountain bike gear shifters and brake levers along with new cables. But overall happy with conversion. I got shifters that were same make as the gears on my bike. I was after more hand positions for long commute and made a big difference for stability.

If you go for them and choose the foam grips. They go on a lot easier with wd40. The cursing I did with the first side before I googled for the solution 😅

I ride flat, butterfly. It's easy to change over. Also GM you can buy a brake lever that puts on both brakes into one (assuming it's cables) so you don't have to use the hand that for broken so much.

Your could also change the chain ring to a single and rear cassette to compensate, you'd only need to shift with one hand then, your can choose thumb or twist shift which ever is easier.

Trust me I've done this once or twice 😂🤣

Also, print grips on, hairspray is good, while it's wet it is the lube to slide the grip on them when it dries it glues the grip in place.

Tubeless: I bought a bike with Tubeless. Second hand so already set up. Ridden a few times. Last night fetcheveryone.com/t-19246882 on the descent to the pizza restaurant i punctured. I felt air come hissing out. I was getting ready to stop as liquid starting coming out. Then it magically stopped and I finished the ride without an issue. I carry an inner tube as the ultimate repair kit and have tyres, tubes and sealant onboard (I’m deployed with the Navy). Question: What do I do with the punctured/sealed tyre now? My research suggests ‘keep calm, add air, and ride on’. Thoughts?

As long as it wasn't a huge gash (and probably wasn't as it resealed), then should be OK to just pump back up to pressure and carry on with.

If a lot of liquid has come out before it sealed, it may need topping up, but that needs doing occasionally anyway.

So probably just inspect the tyre, but unless you're trying to push it to the limit, it'll likely be fine.

Pump it up a bit, and pat yourself on the back for riding tubeless.

That's the whole point of them; the sealant isn't just a temporary solution to get you home as it might be in a car, it is now a sealed tyre again.

The only think you might want to consider is topping up the sealant if a lot came out.

When changing to winter tyres on my son's bike it's truly amazed me how many thorn punctures his tyres have survived with when they are run tubeless. Could be 30-40 separate thorns in the tyre which otherwise would have been 30-40 punctures and flats requiring a tube repair at least.

Yes, just wait for sealant to work and ride on. I had one recently that didn’t seal very well so rode on lower pressure for the rest of the ride. A few rides later it popped again, covering my calf in sealant, but I’ve bought some ‘worms’ and shoved one in the hole and it really helped, been fine since.

Tubeless revisted (x-post from Tri220 thread): I just played with my tyres after a nervous rise a month ago down Mount Olympus in Cyprus.

It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be (tyre fiddling). Thought it would be a tyre change job. I pumped the tyres, juice came out a hole in the front tyre so I removed the valve core (which was quite hard tbh), poured the sealant in, span it around and tried again. It had a hiss then stopped. Okay better. Rear tyre had no issues when I topped sealant, then I went back to the front. Pumped, a single pssst hiss and done. 7 bar. Happy. And I avoided having to change tyres! #rideon
