Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

So, a new thing for me, building a road bike from scratch. I purchased a brilliant frame and groupset from Northern Exile which I was able to collect from him on our holidays last week in Pateley Bridge, then spent a couple of evenings putting it together.

Fortunately NE had kept all the groupset instructions. I got hold of a second hand set off Mavic Krysiums from CStar too, so it turned out to be a real Fetchy project. I've just got back from my first ride and I'm feeling instantly quicker :-)

Nice. I like the red cabling. NE is a pro at building bikes I saw his recent series of photos.

What brands of padded shorts, preferably bib shirts, for longer rides? Finding my current brands (a couple of which are admittedly cheap) are not adequately protecting my posterior.

Thereā€™s a lot of personal choice and trial/error for shorts. A lot of people rate dhb (wiggles own brand), my favourite is Castelli. Iā€™d also recommend a good chamois cream and check your saddle is correct, both the type of saddle and the position, especially if youā€™re getting numbness or pressure in places other than the sit bones.

Other than that itā€™s time in the saddle!
