Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Once your inner tube is completely deflated, it should be possible to use your fingers and thumbs to push the tyre beads inwards away from the rim.

It should be possible, but I spent several hours trying the other night. And watched many, many youtube videos that started with "push the bead into the centre of the rim, then do this". And not one of them said "if you can't get the bead into the centre, then try this".

there is a little tool which greatly reduces the strength required

I also tried a similar tool - my guess is that it would have worked to get the tyre back on, but I couldn't get any purchase at all to get it off.

I see from the Fetchpoint map that you are sometimes up near my way (Cambridge)

Thanks for the very kind offer - but to the best of my recollection, it's been quite a while since I've been to Cambridge (is somebody masquerading as me?🤣). But if I happen to be in the area... :)

Got my elbow clipped by a driver squeezing past as I was waiting to turn right. Wing mirror. It was the perfect end to a shitty day.

No real damage, just the knowledge that he didn't give a shit about me and a deep sense of my own vulnerability.
