No internet for over 2 weeks (thanks, BT!) so one match behind, MDOTs.
Follow on? Agree with everything that's been said; just given Pakistan a sniff of a draw if they play well. Unnecessary!

england have always been very conservative when it comes to the follow on: unlike india, who didn't muck about!

Maybe, just maybe we'll give them an awkward 20 minutes before close this evening?

Wasn't it top avoid us having to bat on day 5 against the spinner if required, seems negative, but i'm not unhappy with the decision

391 ahead after first innings and we are looking to avoid their spinner, who we brutalised in the first innings, on day 5?
If that's the reason, then it's an even worse reason than 'our bowlers were an ickle bit tired' after 60 odd overs.

Lead 534. Cook probably thinks we need another 210-220 to be sure....;-)

It's a bit daft now, perhaps they are just now demorallising the Pakistan bowlers as we ll as mentally and physically tiring them out. At first I thought why not give Vince and Ballance a go, but if they got out, it would be bad for them, it's bad for them that they are not trusted to bat now.
So they declare an hour before lunch or when a wicket falls....
