Makes sense to me. Get another 100 or so. Bowl at them for the best part of 2 days. Give the bowlers who've just done back to back tests and those coming back from injury a rest.
If the spinner was a bit more economical then he could tie up one end whilst the 4 quicks go from the other. Unfortunately.......

So we r giving them a few hours off while we slog 100 to then let them bowl for two days? To then be shattered.
Enforce follow on. Get wickets, feet up during rain breaks. All done and dusted with a day to spare. Extra rest day.

Does the follow on really matter, enforced or not? England are in a strong position, making it stronger and looking for a win. It's only day 3, test matches last 5 days.

It matters as you have more time to get them out. Batting now doesn't make their position any stronger.

We were in such a strong position after the first innings it shouldn't matter.
But the chatter on BBC and from the analysts seems to support it being a bit of a pants idea.

At the minute it's 76% in favour of enforcing the follow on.

To be fair even with unpredictable Manchester weather a totally different Pakistan team would have to appear to bat for more than 100 overs. Also the pitch is going to be poor on day five. If it even gets to day five.

I didn't see the point of not enforcing the follow on. The bowlers weren't overworked bowling only 60 odd overs with an overnight rest in between. Should have bowled again, have them 2 or 3 down by now and wrap it up tomorrow weather permitting. There's a week break until the next test so the bowlers will have no excuses for being tired.
