Can't blame the tail. Annoying that the recognised batters did well enough to play themselves in only to do something stupid through wearing their Bazball rose-tinted specs.

If/when England lose the Ashes 5-0, do we reckon Bazball is dead?

The frustration with *this* England team is that they arguably have the same amount of talent (except openers) as the teams in the 09-14 era.

Which is why they've won some exciting test matches recently.

The problem is that if you play on the edge and veer into recklessness, a good team (e.g. Australia) will punish you.

I said it previously - Bazball is in part psychological - it preys on the opposition fear that it doesn't matter what they do, the Bazball approach will win them the game (it's very similar to the dominant Aussie sides of the 80s/90s/00s, but obvious a different method of doing it)

England lost that psychological advantage in the first test. The Aussies don't fear it any more.

That's why it'll be a 3-1 or even 4-0 series.

Bazball is basically playing Billy Bigcock and the Aussies have turned up packing

Part of the problem is playing it against the best in the world. They’ve shown they can play risk free and go at well over 4 per over and be in the game.
Playing ultra aggressive against Australia and the frailty of the method gets exposed.

It needs fine tuning. I’d expect professional cricketers to be smart enough to do that.

The good news is that England have chased down Australian totals in the fourth innings at Lord's before. Twice.

The bad news is those chases were in 1890 and 1896...

Pretty sure I saw this version of bazball in 1999 at the Oval against New Zealand
