I feel the 2005 (possibly started earlier) onwards version was pretty good. The thing with the versions before that (certainly the versions I watched with Atherton as captain) was they simply weren't good enough, it wasn't really a matter of tactics.
That's why Root and Stokes specifically annoy me in Bazball, they are too good to think just attacking and shouting positivity all the time makes sense. If that's all you've got as a batter then fair enough (I guess you might describe someone like Cook as the opposite). It might be what they put out there for media consumption rather than what they really say internally though.

I don't think it's a case that they are not worthy of praise at all, Fetch. A couple of things.
1. I genuinely can't remember each year, but oftenthrough the 80's and 90's, we weren't very good or playing a vastly superior opposition (West Indies 84 and 88, Australia through the 90s and 2001).
2. I don't remember individual years in the 2000s, so 2005 stands out for obvious reasons.
3. Criticism of the current team is because they had done the hard work at 180-1. Knock the ball around the wide open spaces for another 90 minutes and come back in a position of strength at 270-2, with an old ball and a depleted attack. Play the situation a bit more, because the talent is clearly there. THAT is the frustration. It was tailor-made for Root to be Root yesterday.... but equally, that's sport. The opposition are entitled to either play well or lay down challenges for you to overcome - or not!
Oh - and the majority of us have a vast catalogue of grumpy old men memories, which prevail far more than the glorious days of Gower and Robinson flogging the Aussies in 1985, nearly 40 years ago...

Yes, looks like a good delivery to Stokes and has been stated, that's why it's best to not give wickets away. Make a good one get you out because they do happen.
