They were also talking about shorter boundaries on TMS. Really, I assumed there would be something in the laws around this but I've never checked? |

I would be surprised. There are grounds of all sizes, and it's the same for both teams.

Now, if we could push them out when Australia bat, that'd be great

I think size is in conditions rather than laws, hold on.

I think I played once on a pitch that had a road running through the outfield.

Better than bowling on a road. I can't find anything about minimum boundaries! |

I was thinking minimums. Surprised there's nothing at all.

There probably is, but it's definitely not in the laws, so I reckon it'll be in playing conditions of each and every test, ODI and T20 game and they'll be different every time.

19.1.3 The aim shall be to maximise the size of the playing area at each venue. With respect to the size of the boundaries, no boundary shall be longer than 90 yards (82 metres), and no boundary should be shorter than 65 yards (59 metres) from the centre of the pitch to be used. Though that's international cricket only. I think you're right about no specific dimensions for a pitch, other than presumably it needs to be big enough to have the actual wicket on it!! I've played on village pitches with all sorts of obstructions and all sorts of shapes/sizes. Our home field when I played junior cricket (and into seniors) a long time ago was far from flat. Then you have the complete array of backgrounds, light levels, and pitches with the setting sun right behind the bowler's arm. |
