As always players from certain counties, particularly batters from Surrey, sorry BHF, get chance after chance.....

I feel for some of our previous openers if Zack crawley can keep his place with an average of 27 after 33 tests.

The first line said 'considering', Modern was right royally fucked by England, see Archer..he ain't coming back, his head has gone way past test cricket, he has said as much in the past.

Root fucked Bess over in India if I remember rightly, there's a strong anti-Bess feeling in the camp.

I reckon they may as well go Ahmed, I think they'll go Jacks.

Moeen could never hold an end. The convicts would hit him out of the attack and his head would go. They may well do the same with any of the other options, but you never know until you try. Ahmed would be a brave choice, more attacking. I thought Jacks was a slogger who bowls a bit? Like Livingstone.

If you're saying they should look after players, then looking after them is not throwing them out there when you don't think they are ready. Or do we end up with hindsight if it goes wrong?

As for Bess, there's new management. If they don't rate him (and it's not like he's been pulling up trees) then they won't pick him. They obviously rate Crawley; it surprises me, but it does mean that once they pick you, in theory, they really believe in you so you'll get a good go. That's not compatible with taking a punt on a player though IMO.

5/48 against Pakistan in their own back yard, including Babar, Shakeel and Rizwan earns him a chance in my book. Admittedly the series was won by the time he got his chance, but the match was tight after the first innings, and Pakistan were trying to avoid the clean sweep.

They only played him there because it was won and it would be a helpful pitch. A world of difference between that and an Ashes on likely unhelpful pitches. I'm not saying he definitely shouldn't play but I don't think it's the slam dunk no risk play many seem to think. If we're talking about Moeen's head dropping with all his experience, then you have to consider the effect on an 18 year old who has barely played any first class cricket. Maybe he's built for this mentally, but that has to be all considered before throwing him in.

I reckon they pick Crawley on the basis of once in a while he'll blast a hundred in a hundred balls and they're not arsed with his average.

The same would apply to Ahmed they'll pick him, if he gets larruped, they will say don't worry, you are one for us for the long term.

I say Jacks because Moeen will turn the offer down, they don't fancy Parkinson or Bess and that leaves then little option. Also because with Stokes is now a batsman unless he is playing a huge game, they have a spot of bother balancing up tbe team, I can see them packing out the batting.

They could, of course, water all the pitches.

Moeen was tempted last year, why are you so certain he will turn it down?
