They are looking for someone to hold an end really, not sure bold is the way to go based on that?

I think it'll be Ahmed, he can bat a bit too, the next best is probably Bess or Parkinson, so you may as well pick Ahmed and you have Root too....

In the summer of 2005, I was in the pub watching KP smash the Aussies to all parts of the oval. Rehan was learning to walk and eating his first solid foods |

I saw the first 3 daystar biggest cheer was when England won the toss.

Looks like England are going for the sensible option of Moeen Ali: bbc.co.uk

Doesn't feel like the best move. I would have backed Rehan. I think Moeen is great, but assuming Moeen's return would be relatively short-lived, why not give Bazball-backing to the youngster, rather than rehabbing another member of the old guard? Plus I'm a sucker for leg spinners.

Rehan has extremely limited experience. The best way to destroy his future is to throw him into the deep end before he's ready.

I like his confidence. And if they can stick with Crawley through numerous failures, in exchange for the occasional bit of majesty, and in the hope that he will become more consistent, then why not Ahmed? |

A bit easier when the other batters are doing their job re Crawley. With the Stokes situation, you could easily be down to two bowlers. There is a possibility of Moeen going the same way but the experience is there and he isn't the future. I'm also guessing the conditions aren't exactly going to encourage attacking spin bowling. Also easy to be confident in positive situations, harder if you're getting hammered all over the place. I'm sure England will support him if that happens, but all the support in the world doesn't make you feel much better sometimes if you can see that you're not doing well. If it's a simple play and if it doesn't work out then no harm done, it's great but it might not end up that way. |

Feels like Bess, despite getting wickets and runs for Yorkshire is now discarded for no reason. Whilst I understand the choice to go for Moeen, it is a massive snub to every single spinner in county cricket. Moeen hasn't played any red ball cricket in 2years or so |
