Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The lack of a spinner* hasn't helped. Nobody to hold up an end in first innings.

*was going to say decent, but reliable or trusted might be a better word?

Or one that plays regularly to enable them to become decent, reliable and trusted. You would still need a captain that can set the right field.

As I recall quite a lot of the 90s batsmen excelled at scoring heavily in the third or fourth innings when the match was already beyond winning.

Also a pitch for a short term captain when Root goes.

When Anderson was quite young and new, overbowled and over coached.

Maybe Root and England cricket management take a consistent approach to flogging their bowlers then.

Broad do could do a Bob Willis job as captain. Certainly better than bussing somebody in to the side just to lead it.

Really not sure Broad has the temperament. They'd be out of reviews in his first over for one thing. A good effort by him today though.

I suspect he's quite a deep thinker on the game and post cricket will have an excellent career, possibly in punditry/analysis but possibly as a coach. I have absolutely nothing to back this up!
