You should be able to use your bat if Pollard is bearing down on you!

What does the actual law say?

Maybe technically the right decision, but if he had any sportsmanship about him the WI captain should've withdrawn the appeal. It was pretty obvious that he didn't do it deliberately and was trying to get out of the way

Read a nice article today about the 'greatest over in cricket history' - Holding to Boycott in Barbados, 1981.

But I was quite disappointed, it was far from 'the Greatest' - Holding only hit him once..... ;-)

(Good read but behind a paywall)

Speaking of great overs, am sure most of you have seen this, but worth another look.

The greatest over I ever saw was in a Nottingham Evening League match. We were defending a total, and the opposition only needed one to win off the last (8 ball) over. One of their batsmen was well set, and hooked the first ball for 6. Unfortunately (for him) he trod on his stumps. We (apologies, I can't remember the bowler's name, it was 40 years ago) then took another 3 wickets for no runs.
It was a 4 wicket maiden to earn us a tie. I took a catch for one of the wickets, the ball burst through my hands, bounced off my forehead and I caught the rebound.

I played for Notts Ivanhoe. Can't remember the opposition, but it was played at their ground, West Park at West Bridgford.
