Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I first played for Notts Ivanhoe as a school boy in the late 70's. The club evolved from an older club made up of servicemen, mostly RAF. My elder brother played and I initially went to watch, then score, then make up the numbers. We won the Nottingham and District Sunday League in 1978. I was 12.

There was a lot less League cricket in this area back then. Most of our team played for other clubs on a Saturday. We also played in the Evening League, which at 15 x 8 ball overs, was T20, 30 years before T20. There were about 12 divisions and we were in 2 or 3, so a pretty good standard.

In the Evening League, I played against Sammy Chapman, Brynn Gunn, Steve Hodge, Steve Ogrizovic as well as a couple of ex West Indies players, Mel Hendricks and Andy Jackman.

Leicester Ivanhoe is about 5 miles for me - two pitches, there's a tennis club one side of the ground and a rugby club the other (and woe betide you if you park in the tennis club's part of the car park!)

There are tennis courts and a bowling green behind the bowlers arm at Nuthall's ground. Very short boundary. One of life's great pleasures hitting a text book lofted drive for 6 and scattering the pensioners.

Is the hit and giggle cricket on the telly anywhere sensible tomorrow? There's a chance I might be done and finished in time to be home to watch some tomorrow.

There's little chance of me starting anything meaningful when I get home if it's around 3pm, so might as well watch some hitting if I can.
